Terms of use

The ground rules for using Shabbat With Friends. Like our privacy notice, this page has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and does not claim to be a final legal document.

Who may use the service

Members must be 18 or older and must join through an invitation code or an approved application. Children may attend as guests of an approved adult with the host's agreement. They do not have accounts.

Seats and approvals

A seat request is not a reservation. Every adult guest needs their own account and their own approval from the host. Hosts may approve, decline or retract an approval, and may cancel a dinner in line with the cancellation expectations described in the community guidelines.

No payment for seats

Guests never pay hosts for a seat, and no payment for a seat is collected through the app. Sponsorship is a separate, manually arranged programme, and the inquiry form on this site records an expression of interest only. Nothing is charged automatically.

Your responsibilities

Keep your account details accurate, treat other members with respect, respect a host's kashrut standards and house expectations, and do not share another member's private information. You are responsible for anything posted or sent from your account.

What we provide

We provide an introduction service. We do not organise, supervise or take responsibility for a dinner, for a host's home, for food prepared by others, or for the conduct of any member. A host's kitchen is not automatically allergen-safe, and kashrut standards are the host's own description rather than a certification from us.

Suspension and removal

A community admin may warn, suspend or remove a member who breaks the community guidelines. Members may request deletion of their account from their profile.

Awaiting legal review

These terms describe how the community works today. They have not been through legal review and will be replaced by a reviewed version.
